Location
Borgáta is located in the South part of Kemenesalja, at the foot of Kis-Somlyó hill, along the river Kodó, next to road 84.
This land was inhabited already in the years of 1200, also King Béla the 4th took a rest here during the Mongol invasion - the sign 'Királykő' (King's stone) commemorates this event. The volcanic Kis-Somlyó hill is part of the Somló historical wine region, with vineyards all around the hillsides. Kemenes Volcano Park, Hungary’s only exhibition about Volcanos is nearby, introducing Volcanos of Earth, Carpathian Basin and Hungary. You can also walk into the crater of Ság-hill, the 5 and half million years old basaltic Volcano.
Thanks to the search for mineral oil in the 1960's, thermal springs were found at several locations in the region: besides Celldömölk and Mesteri, Borgáta has a thermal spring delivering 47 [FOK] Celsius hot water from the depths of 730 m. Location of our meeting is the thermal spa built around the spring, its 5 thermal and swimming pools are awaiting our members with 28-38 [FOK] Celsius hot water rich in minerals.
